Welcome to Altrincham

Within the boundaries of the historic county of Cheshire lies Altrincham, a market town in Trafford, Greater Manchester with an approximate population of 52,500.

Altrincham was established as a market town in 1290, a time when the economy of most communities was based on agriculture rather than trade, and there is still a market in the town which is once again thriving!

Altrincham today is an affluent commuter town, partly because of its transport links covering the bus station, metro link and train line network. The town has seen a steady increase since the 19th century and are incredibly proud of its progress.  The town is also home to Altrincham F.C. and three ice hockey teams Manchester Storm, Altrincham Aces and Trafford Tornados.

Altrincham named 'best place to live' in the North West for the second year running. The expert judges described the Trafford town as a place where “suburbia meets utopia”.
